Srinagar, August 10: Authorities are all set to monitor the online traffic system in Srinagar by installing nearly 1250 Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) CCTV systems across the district.

Athar Aamir Khan, Srinagar City Commissioner (SMC), who is also CEO of Srinagar Smart City Project, told Rising Kashmir: “We are installing nearly 1250 Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) CCTV cameras at 76 intersections and in other areas of the city and the outskirts. ”

He said ITMS CCTV cameras would be of different types.

Khan said one of the CCTV cameras the department is installing is called Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). “With this camera, we can immediately identify the vehicle for any kind of traffic violation.”

“Another camera is called Red Light Violation Detection which will help us send the Challan back to the red light signal violator,” he said.

Similarly, Khan also said he would install Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) CCTV cameras in which relevant authorities could identify high-speed and other offenders.

“The project plan is done; even the tender was awarded. Hopefully in the next 4-5 months all 1250 cameras will be installed,” he said.
